Romania had highest EU inflation rate in June

Romania had the highest inflation in the European Union in June, 5.9 per cent, compared to the same month last year, according to Eurostat.
The average EU inflation rate was 0.6 per cent, and the average Euro-zone inflation rate was a minus 0.1 per cent in June.
Poland (4.2 per cent), Lithuania (3.9 per cent) and Hungary (3.7 per cent) followed Romania.
Romanian registered a two-per-cent increase in prices in June compared to May, the same as Italy, Denmark and Portugal.
Romania had the fourth-highest rate of EU inflation in 2008, seven per cent, when average EU inflation was 2.4 per cent.
