Philanthropy Books Donates 20% May Sales

The dear people of Philanthropy Books, a Texas Organization local to Little Miracles International, have chosen our organization to donate 20% of the profit of their sales for May books to LMI/Dream of a Child.

I cannot thank this organization enough for surprising us with this blessing!

Semipalatinsk Baby Home Windows

Little Miracles International, Inc. is pleased to be helping to sponsor the window replacement project in the Semiplatinsk, Kazakhstan baby house. The baby house is two stories tall with about ten rooms on each floor. Each room has three large windows. The windows were broken, old and falling apart. This region of North-East Kazakhstan has sub-zero temperatures in the wintertime. Drafts cause extreme heating costs and health issues for the children. When I was in Kazakhstan at this baby house, the outside temperature was a deadly -35 degrees F. Our breath crystallized in the air as we spoke to one another outside through face mufflers! The drafty windows really were causing a serious problem for the precious treasures kept inside.

The cost to replace one window is about $650 and the sill an additional $150. Windows are being replaced one room at a time, as money and materials are available. Total cost of the project is about $48,000. The baby house director was elated to get started on this project. He just loved to survey this work and see daily progress actually happening after dreaming of this for so long! We felt that many of our adoptive families with children from Kazakhstan, current donors, and people interested in helping children lead a better life in the orphanage would be just as excited about this project as the orphanage director was and as we are to finally get this window project to a beginning point!

If you are an adoptive family or an adoptive family that has been blessed through the adoption of a child from Kazakhstan, please consider how much your family can contribute toward the well being of all the children in the baby house. Only you truly know the conditions of the situation in these baby houses. There are several ways to donate to this project. All donations made through LMI are tax deductible to the full extent of the IRS code. Tax receipts will be given at the end of the year. Acknowledgments for donations are given at the end of each month. Without donors like you, we could not even begin to fathom a project of this proportion. We have faith that we will find our friends will dig deep for this cause!
